The CRÉ of the Haut-Saint-Laurent Valley has mandated the Montérégie forestry agency to manage the program to promote resources in the forestry sector (PMVRMF) – Section II which can finance very specific projects.

The aims of the program

The program to promote resources in the forestry sector (PMVRMF) was established in March 1995 by the ministry of Natural resources and fauna. Section II of the PMVRMF is part of the government’s views in matters of regional and business economic development. It aims to generate additional economic activity by promoting all resources (forest, fauna, maple syrup production, recreation, education, research, etc.)

The program has, among others, the following objectives:

  • Contribute to the social and economic development of regions and create jobs;
  • Promote events that aim to maintain and improve the protection, the promotion or transformation of resources in the forestry sector;
  • Increase forestry production;
  • Encourage partnerships and see to sharing finances between the government, the private sector and regional agencies;
  • Experiment and develop new forestry techniques with a view to the protection and promotion of resources in the forestry sector;
  • Improve the understanding of ecosystems and resources in the forestry sector.
